Today I donated blood for the first time! It was a strange, potent mixture of excitement, anxiety, nausea, and free cookies. It kinda just happened. I wasn't planning on giving blood when I woke up this morning. I was walking back to my dorm after a Ke$ha song reminded me to check my postbox, and there was a signboard outside the student union building promoting a three-day blood drive. I'm so happy there's free internet in my hotel! Right now, I'm on vacation with my family in London. It's my first time in the UK, and so far (all 12 hours I've been here), everything has been rather posh. Even if the taxi ride from Heathrow smelled like pixie sticks and farts, and the marmite (which I tried for the first time this morning!) tastes like salty earwax, my enthusiasm has not been diminished.
